This project was inspired by my grandfather's collection of letters received and archived from the 1970s and onwards.
Upon reviewing these letters I was enlightened to the heartache one must have felt whilst waiting for a reply from someone in the post.
With the letters reviewed I photographed my ideas around patience, for example objects that take time to grow and establish, with also the process of conversing with someone through the post.
I had been thinking of printing text in the darkroom for a long time and this project finally pushed me towards that. I view these texts as poetic and expressive as they weren’t written for me to read.
