In Attempt To Grasp Time
2026 - Ongoing

This body of work took me a while to understand as I was unsure what inspired me to shoot and why I did so. Eventually, it became defined by time, youth culture and relationships, three things that live on my mind and have become my ignition to create photographs. Capturing moments became all I can hold onto from the present and my time as a twenty-one-year-old, as time is constantly fleeting whether I like it or not, and as much as I’d like to dig my heels in and hold onto what I have, there is hardly freedom to lose myself in that thought before time perseveres again.

'In Attempt to Grasp Time’ makes me think of longing; longing for love, longing for twenty-one to go on forever, and longing for relatability because I see this body of work as a photographic illustration and personal expression of what I desire. My work is captured through presence, yet it exists in photography to live forever.

“All photographs are memento mori. To take a photograph is to participate in another person’s mortality, vulnerability, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time’s relentless melt.” - Susan Sontag.

In a hand bound zine behaving as if it were a journal it dictates a delicate narrative of my life, from the text and image included to the slow and tender process involved in hand printing each of my photographs. Imagery lasting to act as diary entries, with themes of time, relationships and community.
